A series of grand commemorative activities will be held from 10th December to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the death of Xiao Youmei, the famous musician in Zhongshan and father of Chinese modern music education.

From 10th to 31st December, a photo show on Xiao’s childhood life, studies abroad and education career in China will be displayed in Zhongshan Culture and Arts Center.

On the evening of 10th December, a special lecture on “Xiao Youmei and Chinese Modern Music Education” will be delivered by Professor Huang Xudong and audiences will have the chance to get the Biography of Xiao Youmei written by the professor.

On the evening of 11th December, famous pianist Liu Shikun and famous conductor Liu Ming will join hands with musicians from Central Conservatory of Music to hold a special concert for the 70th anniversary of the death of Xiao Youmei, and a CD of Xiao Youmei’s Works will be recorded on the spot as a valuable historical material.
