The 2015 Awards Ceremony of Wu Guixian Education Fund and Cross-strait Zhongshan Education Scholarships were held on the afternoon of Nov. 10 at the junior department of Zhongshan No. 1 Middle School. According to statistics, 170 thousand Yuan were awarded to 380 excellent teachers and students in Zhongshan. Deputy Mayor Wu Yuexia attended the awards ceremony. Wu Guixian Education Fund was set up by the late Mr. Wu Guixian, a well-known patriotic overseas Chinese in Japan, in 1993 to encourage teachers and students in Zhongshan. 6, 000 odd excellent teachers and students have been awarded in the past two decades.

Although living a thrifty life himself, Mr. Wu Guixian donated altogether more than HK$ 40 million to build school houses and to set up education fund. Mr. Wu Guixian's spirit touches every teacher and students in Zhongshan, though he passed away on Jan. 1, 2001.
