Ma Yingbiao?1861-1944?was born in Shachong Town (former name of the Southern District), Xiangshan County (former name of Zhongshan City), Guangdong Province. He went to Australia when he was 20. Influenced by Mr. Sun Yat-sen’s idea of “Saving China by developing industry and commerce”, he returned to China and set up Sincere Department Store in Hong Kong in 1900 with an investment of 25 thousand Yuan.

Ma’s family tradition can be traced back to the early Nansong Dynasty. Patriotism is an inseparable part of his family tradition. Ma who kept this family tradition set a good example not only for his descendants but also for all Chinese people during the period when China suffered national crisis.
