On the morning of March 12, a ceremony to mark the 96th anniversary of Dr Sun Yat-sen's death was held at the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen to remember the forerunner of China's democratic revolution.
The ceremony began at 9:00 am, and people from all walks of life stood together for a moment of silence in front of the portrait of Sun Yat-sen. Representatives from more than 40 units and organizations, including the Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee, Zhongshan Municipal People's Congress, Zhongshan People's Government and Zhongshan Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, as well as Sun Yat-sen's relatives and Yang Heling's relatives, presented flower baskets to remember Sun Yat-sen's work for national independence, social progress and the people's happiness.
In addition, more than 200 people, including representatives of minority political parties, associations of industry and commerce, public figures without party affiliation, leaders of various departments and mass organizations in Zhongshan, representatives of the Sun Yat-sen Research Association and other institutions, representatives of Taiwan businessmen, compatriots and relatives, representatives of overseas Chinese, returned overseas Chinese and their relatives, and representatives of teachers and students of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School and Cuiheng School, attended the ceremony.
On the same day, the art exhibition "Words into Action: Sun Yat-sen and Chen Shaobai, Yau Lit and Yang Heling" was also unveiled at the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen. Precious cultural relics and historical pictures in the exhibition share a review of the history of the Revolution of 1911.
