The musical "Bright Red Kapok" premiered at the grand theater of the Zhongshan Culture & Art Center on the evening of May 17.

"Bright Red Kapok" tells the 18 years of true story of Yang Yin since he joined the Tongmenghui until he died from 1911 to 1929, and highlights the struggle of early revolutionaries like Yang Yin who defended their beliefs and pursued truth with their lives.

The musical lasts about 140 minutes. It is co-created by the Zhongshan Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervisory Committee and the Xinghai Conservatory of Music.

The creators said that the title "Bright Red Kapok" was inspired by the century-old kapok tree near the Former Residence of Yang Yin. "The creation of heroic stories involves studying and getting closer to these heroes. We hope to pass on the feelings we had during the creation and learning process to all viewers and young people."
