Su Bingtian, the great Zhongshan athlete who broke the Asian 100-meter record in the Tokyo Olympics, is of special concern from the public these days. Su's first coach, Ning Debao, is one of his biggest fans. After the Olympic Games, Ning contacted Su immediately and sent him congratulations.
Ning Debao, a coach of Zhongshan Sports School, had a particularly strong first impression of Su.
Zhongshan held the track and field championship in November 2004, and Su's performance during the competition surprised Ning, who just transferred from Hunan Province to Zhongshan Sports School as a track and field coach.
Ning Debao asked Su if he would like to practice sprinting with her, and Su said yes without hesitation. Then, the 15-year-old became a student of Zhongshan Sports School.
Ning and Su are close as mother and son in nearly 20 years' time. In her eyes, Su Bingtian has always shown a grateful heart no matter how great of achievements he has made.
Support from his hometown has always given Su Bingtian strength to continue running. Ning said that Su would never forget the land where he grew up even with his outstanding performance, and Su also hoped to make contributions in the future to the development of track and field in his hometown.
For Su Bingtian, going to the Tokyo Olympics was a journey of realizing a dream, and the 14th National Games of the People's Republic of China to be held in September is another challenge for him to face. "Another dream of Su Bingtian is to win a gold medal in the National Games," said Ning Debao.
