July 1 this year marked Hong Kong's 27th anniversary of its return to the motherland. On that day, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced the annual honors list to award 502 people in recognition of their significant contributions to Hong Kong. Lee Chack-Fan, a Zhongshan elite and honorary president of the Zhongshan Overseas Friendship Association, received the highest honor of Grand Bauhinia Medal.

Lee is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the curator of Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole at the University of Hong Kong. He is a renowned expert in geotechnical engineering and water conservancy, having participated in numerous national key projects. Lee is also an outstanding leader in the higher education sector of Hong Kong.
