With the constant development of meteorological prediction, people rely more and more on weather service. To help people know more, Zhongshan Meteorological Bureau initiated a “weather service of the people, by the people and for the people” plan.

During the 12th Five-Year-Plan period, a complete meteorological disaster prevention and reduction system has been constructed at the municipal level, township level and village/community level, establishing 24 weather stations and hiring 400 assistants to help collect weather information. From Feb.10, 2015, the meteorological authority developed a joint mechanism to release prediction on air quality as well as to send warnings on heavy air pollution.

At the same time, Zhongshan Meteorological bureau branched out into livelihood-related services, for example, providing people with air quality index, clothing suggestions, and prediction on smog and continuous wet weather, all of which are well acclaimed. In recent years, the weather authority also made a lot of efforts in publicizing weather service by holding knowledge contest, summer camps and photography competition. Zhongshan Meteorological Museum, one of the two national popularization bases of meteorological knowledge, will receive a lot of visitors from the main land, Hong Kong and Macau.
