The appraisal and acceptance meeting of "Building Zhongshan into a 'Water-saving City'" was held by the Guangdong Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission on November 21 in the municipal convention center.

Zhongshan passed the examination and acceptance during this appraisal meeting and would be named "Guangdong Water-saving City".

It is reported that, based on a resident population of 3.31 million by the end of 2018, the per capita amount of water resource was only 525 cubic meters, thereby indicating that Zhongshan is a water-scarce city.

Therefore, Zhongshan has carried out water-saving city establishment projects in Shiqi District, East District, West District and South District. It has gradually improved the water-saving management policy, perfected water-saving measurement statistics, increased the construction of water-saving carriers, established the price level control system, and completed the construction of 125 water-saving carriers, thus allowing water-saving consciousness to be integrated into the daily life of local people.
