2019-08-08

The list of the 6th batch of the representative inheritors of municipal intangible cultural heritage projects has been published. Six people including Chen Xihong, Wu Rongmei, Wu Lianyou, Mao Zhangdi, Chen Yiyun and He Zhanquan were all nominated as the representative inheritors.

The six nominators have been engaged in such ICH projects as "Cloud-dragon Dance of Liufang Village", "Zhongshan Salty Water Song", "Baikoulian Mountain Song", "Cantonese Embroidery (Xiaolan Embroidery)" and "Guangdong Traditional Ceramic Forming Techniques of Roof Ridge".

The oldest nominator is Wu Lianyou, performer of Salty Water Song, who is from Tanzhou Town. "Since 2006, I have served as a tutor of Salty Water Song in many primary and secondary schools in Tanzhou. During this summer vacation, I have still been working at the Xinhe Primary School of Tanzhou Town, also known as the Zhongshan Inheritance Base for Salty Water Song," said the 67-year-old.

On August 9, Wu will be the guest speaker at Cuiheng Village, where she will explain and perform Zhongshan's folk songs to the Taiwanese students who visit Zhongshan for exchange.

Up to now, there have been 38 representative inheritors of ICH projects in Zhongshan. These include 5 national, 16 provincial and 17 municipal ICH project inheritors.
