Zhongshan on January 15 held the 2020 city-wide ecology and environment protection work conference, at which the 2019 ecological environment "report card" was released and the 2020 work priorities were established.
It is reported that in 2019, Zhongshan's air quality remained in the forefront of China, with the improvement of water environment ranking fourth nationwide and first in Guangdong.
Last year, Zhongshan eliminated 60 high-polluting fuel boilers and completed renovation of 634 biomass boilers, with a completion rate of 100%. In total 200 atmospheric micro-stations in the second phase of the "Zhongshan Atmospheric Environment Grid Monitoring System" were built and put into operation, forming a "9+300" atmospheric environment monitoring network. Zhongshan also promoted the construction of "general processing factories" for OCs waste gas treatment.
In 2019, Zhongshan severely cracked down on illegal pollution in the Qianshan River Basin area and filed 35 cases for investigation. The Zhongshan Water Environment Monitoring Center was set up last year, with an investment of 350 million yuan to build the leading automatic monitoring platform for river water quality throughout Guangdong province. Additionally, 131 automatic monitoring stations were installed.
