Feng Zaixiang is the leader of 17th Production Commune in Shangnan Village, Fusha Town. When he had learned that a blind mother and her blind son in his neighborhood could not take care of themselves, he took the initiative to become the "eyes" of the mother and son, and has taken on the hard work of washing clothes, cooking and cleaning since 2009. For 11 years, Feng Zaixiang has supported the daily life of the mother and child.

Feng lives at No.30, Yinhe North Second Street, Fusha Town. An inconspicuous flat diagonally opposite of him is the residence of the blind mother and son. Feng said that the 54-year-old mother, Xiang, and her 31-year-old son, Chen, were both born blind and deaf. They can only perceive the world through the sense of touch and smell.

After years of care, they have formed a unique way of communication. Their familiar warmth and touch have broken through the barrier of physical distance between hearts in their silent world.

In the past 11 years, Feng Zaixiang has never traveled far away, nor has he ever spent a night outside. "How can you go far away when you have worries in your mind? Taking care of them has become a habit of mine. It is like a part of my life and I cannot be separated from it." Feng Zaixiang smiled modestly. He said that he got his passport and Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao many years ago, but they the same as when he first acquired them.

Feng said that his persistence in the past 11 years could not be without the understanding and support of his family. When asked about his dedication, Feng showed no signs of hardship or sadness in taking care of the blind mother and son over the past 11 years. Through love and good deeds, he has shouldered an important task "to become their eyes". Some villagers said that Feng has enjoyed high prestige in Shangnan Village. His story has been widely spread and he was honored as one of the "Zhongshan Good People" and has become a role model for future generations.
