Ouyang Jinquan, deputy mayor of Zhongshan, met with the Hawaii Narcissus Queen 2024 delegation led by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii on November 23. The two sides exchanged views on further promoting people-to-people communications and cooperation in culture, economy and trade between Zhongshan and and Hawaii.
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the history of exchanges between Zhongshan and Honolulu, Hawaii after the establishment of international friendship cities. In 1997, Zhongshan and Honolulu became international sister cities, and since then the two sides had organized over 30 visiting and exchange activities and made fruitful results in such areas as economy and trade, culture, medical care and tourism.
Founded in 1911, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii is one of the oldest chambers of commerce in the United States. Since 1949, it has hosted the narcissus-themed Chinese cultural activities annually and the selection activities of Narcissus Queen and Princess among local Chinese people, and organized delegations to visit China.
