Yesterday afternoon, a conference was held to discuss about how to embark on the construction of top universities in ZS. During the past two years, great efforts have been made by ZS municipal government to push forward cooperation with prestigious universities at home and abroad and in the 13th Five-Year-Plan, it is clearly stated that we should make a full use of the role of higher education in cultivating talents and boosting innovation, striving to create one or two top-grade universities of science and technology and a batch of key disciplines by either improving the educational quality of universities now existing in ZS or importing good-quality educational resources from abroad.

Party Secretary Xue Xiofeng and Mayor Chen Liangxian both expressed that we should make partnership with advanced universities since the construction of top-grade universities in ZS is an urgent need for its industrial upgrading and transforming as well as a necessary path to quicken innovation-driven economy and a basic support to boost core competitive edge. We should concentrate on the urgent needs in intelligent manufacturing, advanced equipment manufacturing, modern service industry and traditional predominant industries and promote production-study-research cooperation. We should also make the top-grade universities another hallmark of ZS.
