It is a traditional custom to visit others with a piece of red paper with “kai men da ji” – four Chinese characters indicating blessings – written on it, which means “good fortune when open the door” in Shengshi Village Shaxi Town. As time goes by, the custom has disappeared for about 10 years. As the “Monkey” Spring Festival is approaching, Shengshi Young Volunteers Association organizes a number of young volunteers to help stick “kai men da ji”red papers to the doors in the neighborhood on February 4 as the first phase of the “back to the festival tradition” campaign.
