Mayor Chen Liangxian suggests in deliberating Government Work Report with Guangdong Delegation in the 12th NPC that NDRC should clarify the ratio of investment of China Railway and Guangdong Government as soon as possible, striving for launching the construction of Shenzhen-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Section of Shenzhen-Maoming Railway in 2016 so it will open to traffic together with Jiangmen-Maoming section.
As an important part of Coastal High-speed Railway of National High-speed Rail Network, Shenzhen-Maoming section is connected with Xiamen-Shenzhen High-speed Rail, starting from Shenzhen North Railway Station, through Dongguan and Guangzhou, crossing Zhongshan and reaching Jiangmen, Yangjiang, Maoming. It is a key belt linking PRD with YRD and Bohai Gulf Economic Circle, and is also one of the fastest channels joining eastern and western bank of PRD.
Chen says that Jiangmen-Maoming section has begun construction since June, 2014 and is expected to open to traffic in 2018. The delay of Shenzhen-Zhongshan-Jiangmen section will cause the suspension of the channel. That is why he expects the launching of the construction soon, which will be of significance to the completion of the project.
