Ministry of Environmental Protection releases the air quality statistics for national major areas and 74 cities in March 2016 and the first quarter of this year. Urumchi is on the bottom of the ten relatively bad cities.
During the first quarter of 2016 the rate of excellent days in 338 cities is 70.1%; that of the slightly polluted days is 18.4%; that of the medium level pollution is 6.4%; that of severe pollution is 5.1%.
The excellent rate of the 74 cities on average is 68.4%, up 8.7%. The excellent rate in Kunming is 100% while that in Urumchi, Zhengzhou, Jinan and other eight cities is less than 50%.
According to the integrated index for urban air quality, the 10 relatively less good cities are Urumqi, Baoding, Xingtai, Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang, Hengshui, Handan, Ji'nan, Xi'an and Tangshan; in contrast, the 10 relatively good cities are Haikou, Lhasa, Huizhou, Xiamen, Zhoushan, Shenzhen, Jiangmen, Zhuhai, Fuzhou and Zhongshan.
The excellent rate of 13 cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is 59.7%, up 21.5%. Beijing has the excellent rate of 67.0%, up 22.6%, having 4 seriously polluted days and 7 severely polluted days.
The excellent rate of the 25 cities in the Changjiang River Delta is 66.3%, up 3.8%; that of the 9 cities in the Pearl River Delta region is 95.4%, up 10.5%.
