The Cantonese opera Week, co-organized by Zhongshan Publicizing Department and Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television, Press and Publication, is to kick off on May 20 and will last till 28. Cantonese Opera, a national-level non-material Cultural Heritage, is one of the major categories in Chinese opera, originating in southern China's Guangdong Province.

This year’s Cantonese Opera Week aims to promote the spreading and advancing of Cantonese Opera by involving both amateurish and professional performers, majorly middle-to-old-aged people together with juveniles.
