A temple fair is to be held in Zhanxi Ancestral Temple, fueling the joyful atmosphere surrounding the nearing Chinese New Year. To prepare for the big event, the entrance of the village has been decorated with colorful lanterns, the square in front of the temple and the park along the river have been renovated and the village walls have been painted with pictures promoting traditional customs and cultures.
The history of Zhanxi Ancestral Temple can date back to hundreds of years ago. The previous temple was demolished in the 1960s and reconstructed in 2013 with the RMB 5 million yuan raised by villagers as part of the efforts to establish Zhanxi Ecological Tourism District. Now half of the supporting projects have been accomplished and rural lodgings are available to provide visitors an opportunity to better experience Hakka culture.
In 2015, Tanzhou town has applied for the project of constructing a demonstration beautiful village. With Zhanxi Ecological Tourism District almost in shape, the areas around Zhanxi Village are soon to be a new tourism destination to rural traditions.
