The China National Intellectual Property Administration recently issued an announcement confirming that "Zhongshan Dongsheng Crisped Grass Carp" was approved to be registered as a national Geographical Indication (GI) trademark.

As the hometown of crisped grass carp, Xiaolan Town (including the former Dongsheng Town) is adjacent to waterways, interconnected by river networks, and home to numerous fish ponds. With an average annual temperature of 22.1℃ and an annual precipitation of over 1,800mm, Xiaolan (Dongsheng) provides an advantageous environment for the healthy growth of crisp grass carp.

The Zhongshan Dongsheng Crisped Grass Carp industry adheres to a standardized brand development route, and has perfected its product chain from fry breeding, fingerling cultivation and fish feeding management, to commercial fish marketing, processing and distribution, which has cocurrently driven the development of production, processing, transportation, food and tourism industries. Crisped grass carp products are sold all around the world.

At present, Zhongshan has two GI trademarks, Zhongshan Dongsheng Crisped Grass Carp and Zhongshan Wuguishan Mountain Eaglewood, as well as three GI protection products, Huangpu Preserved Meat, Zhongshan Crisped Grass Carp and Shenwan Pineapple.
