The flower folks in Sansha Village, Henglan Town were full of joy on Jan.20, the first day of the much awaited cash payday. In a week before Dec.28 of every lunar calendar, the local flower farm owners pay their workers cash to celebrate the new year as a tradition. A total of RMB 20 million yuan is expected to be given this year.

According to the owner of Zhongyang Flower Farm, he will pay peasants 4 million yuan, about 600,000 yuan each day. Each flower folk, with a notebook recording the details of each trade, will get the cash they deserve to be paid. Even with the gaining popularity of electronic banking in recent days, local people still prefer to be paid with cash at the end of a year, the practice that started more than 10 years ago.
