For Zheng Xiangyang, a native of Zhongshan who has settled in the United States, this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is unforgettable. He and his friends went to Yakou Village, Nanlang Town, to take pictures of the scene — "bright moon rising over the sea" and use them to deal with homesickness.
"I have left Zhongshan for nearly 40 years. This is the first time I come back to my hometown to watch the moon rising. I am very excited thinking of the Mid-Autumn Festival when I was a child," said Zheng Xiangyang feelingly.
Zheng Xiangyang, born in Shaxi, graduated from Longshan High School in 1979 and immigrated to San Francisco with his family in the following year. In 1988, he began to learn photography. From using a film camera to a digital one, he never stopped pressing the shutter since then.
Since 1999, Zheng Xiangyang returns to China almost every year to shoot and record the beautiful scenery of his motherland and hometown.
On the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, Zheng Xiangyang decided to shoot the bright moon to express his attachment to his hometown. "I am retired, so I have more time to go back to China to take photos. I hope I can take more photos of my hometown in the future, and show other people about Zhongshan."
