The Zhongshan Bureau of Civil Affairs recently announced through an notice that in view of the current epidemic situation, in order to avoid any surge cases during the Tomb-Sweeping Day period, tomb-sweeping activities in funeral parlors, cemeteries and crematoriums, as well as public memorial ceremonies, sea burials, tree burials and other mass gathering activities will all be suspended.
The notice also mentioned that citizens are encouraged to commemorate their ancestors at home. People outside Zhongshan are advised to postpone their return for Tomb-Sweeping Day, and instead, to express their respects for their ancestors by writing messages, sending flowers, using digital tomb-sweeping services through the Yue Sheng Shi (粤省事) platform, or entrusting funeral service agencies to sweep tombs for them.
