On November 22, Xue Xiaofeng, Acting Mayor of Zhongshan City, met Yasuo Mitsuhashi, Director General of Canon Co., Ltd. and Chairman of Canon (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd. and Gao Zhangfan, General Manager of Canon (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd.. Acting Mayor Xue expressed that the municipal government and related government agencies will make efforts to support Canon’s production expansion project. Covering an area of 500 acres, Canon’s laser printer manufacturing base will be put into operation in next September.

Yasuo Mitsuhashi said, “we chose Zhongshan10 years ago and made the same decision now.” Settled in the Torch Development Zone in 2001, Canon (Zhongshan) Office Equipment, Ltd. has witnessed a rapid development in recent 10 years. The production volumn of the factory accumulated to 60 million printers and a present annual output volumn reaches 10 million printers. 95% of the company’s products are for export. In 2009, Canon (Zhongshan)’s export sales reached $460 million, paying taxes of about 120 million RMB. The output value from January to October this year reached $790 million and is expected to reach $890million at the end of this year. The excellent performance strengthened Canon’s confidence to increase investment in Zhongshan. On June 18, Canon signed a contract with the Management Committee of Torch High-tech Development Zone and increase its investment to build a laser printer manufacturing base here. By far, construction of the new factory is carrying out smoothly.
