According to the statistics by Zhongshan Custom on January 23, the total volume of import and export of Zhongshan reached 227.0 billion yuan last year, an increase of 2.7%. The export was 171.22 billion yuan, an increase of 4.2 and the general trading was outstanding while the import decreased by 1.7%.

As for the import, the import of logs grew rapidly. The USA has surpassed Hong Kong and become the first trade partner of Zhongshan. Its trade volume with Zhongshan was 43.61 billion yuan in 2014, an increase of 7.8%. The following descending trade partners of Zhongshan Hong Kong, EU, ASEAN and Japan and the trade volume was respectively 41.72 billion yuan, 32.88 billion yuan, 19.69 billion yuan, 14.42 billion yuan, falling 5.4%, growing 3.3%, 5.7%, 8.1% respectively in contrast to the same period of the previous year.

In 2014, the bilateral trade between Zhongshan and new markets like Latin America, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand grew rapidly. The bilateral trade between Zhongshan and Latin America was 12.07 billion yuan, an increase of 10%;the bilateral trade between Zhongshan and South Korea was 5.92 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8%;the bilateral trade between Zhongshan and Australia was 3.9 billion yuan, an increase of 13.2%; the bilateral trade between Zhongshan and New Zealand was 3.17 billion yuan, an increase of 100%.
