In accordance with the principle of Universal Brotherhood put forward by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, National Health Technology Industrial Base was jointly established by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Guangdong Provincial Government and Zhongshan Municipal Government in April, 1994.

As the first domestic base established subject to international recognized criteria, say GLP?GCP?GMP and GSP, this Base is mainly engaged in research and development, clinic trial, production and sale of innovative medicines, medical instruments and healthy food.

This base is located in Zhongshan Torch High Tech Development Zone with a planned area of 13.5 square kilometers. The blueprint of this base is cooperatively completed by AEPA from America and China Urban Planning and Design Academy and accords with the criteria of FDA and SFDA. The industrial zone, surrounded by the hills on one side and waters on the other, is suitable for the development of health industry. After more than ten years of development, over 130 various enterprises engaged in Health industry have settled down in the base. This base has formed seven industrial sectors including traditional Chinese and western medicines, bio-engineering, medical instruments and so on and become a medicine after/before proof-testing center and logistic center for medicine and pharmaceuticals.

Various methods have been carried out to support the promising companies engaging in health industry to settle down, including Science and Innovation fund, Technique upgrading fund, brand fund, bank financing and so on. Meanwhile, according to the specific projects, it offers a series of flexible policies in land purchase, factory building lease, design and construction of factories. The base also cooperates with the promising projects in terms of equity participation in the R & D, production, distribution and service in health industry.
