The International Conference Center of the Torch District saw an important meeting yesterday, the national innovative technology park leadership meeting, with a purpose to build an innovative technology park in the district. Those leaders who attended the meeting are Xue Xiaofeng, vice secretary and deputy mayor, and Feng Shufeng, Party Secretary of the district, and managers of other departments, including City’s Development and Reform Department, Science and Technology Department, and Financial Department.

The district started to apply for the innovative technology park last year, in order to implement “Double-upgrading” strategy and to optimize the industries and also the economy structure. The Planning of Innovative Technology Park in the Torch District raised proposal in its strategy, technology and industry clusters. The building of the park plays an important role in national policy of “starting business by innovative technology”. Ministry of Science and Technology started this work in June 2008 by publishing the guideline of building innovative technology parks, as the requirement of the State Council. And it is the last year to apply for it. Yue Xiaofeng remarked that the district should lead the new round of economic growth, and should enlighten the “torch” of upgrading the economic structure of the city. The “torch” represented the developing direction, so it should enlighten the whole city as well as the district. He also stressed that the park corresponded to the city’s spirit of “three-suitables”: suitable to start business, to be innovative and to live in; in this aspect, the park deserved the support from the whole city.
