It is reported that Zhongshan’s aquatic products cultivation area reached 363.3 thousand mu last year with products amounting to 340 thousand tons, and 70% of which are “famous-special-excellent” products. The total aquatic products output value is about 4.6 billion Yuan (prevailing price). Both the cultivation and the total output value increased greatly compared with the previous year. Maintaining a good momentum of development, the stable aquatic products cultivation area insures sustainable increase in the peasants and fishermen’s income.

Last year, Zhongshan invested 778.5 million Yuan to renovate 68.987 mu fish ponds. After renovation, the fish ponds are concentrated, normalized, and standardized with a 30% increase of water volume and a 20% increase of aquatic product output of the same kind.
Combining the restructuring of aquatic breeds, Zhongshan constructed 12 quality aquatic products cultivation bases in Nanlang and other towns. The bases include the 1,0000 mu White Cyclina Orientalis Base, the Green Crab Base, and the Sea Bass Base, the 125.095 thousand mu South America White Shrimp Base, the 101.119 mu “Four Major Chinese Carps”Base, 16.742 mu Crisped Grass Carp Base, the 15.116 thousand mu Macrobracium roseabergii, the 9,587 mu Turtle Base, the 7,284 mu Mandarin Fish Base, the 5,374 mu Eel Base, the 4,397 mu Pet Fish Base, the 2,943 mu Cxyeleotris marmoratus Base. The regional concentration, specialized production, and scale management of fishery is gradually taking shape.
