It is reported that vegetables to Hongkong and Macau are under strict quality supervision and have to go through “five passes”. At present, Zhongshan has 7 vegetable processing enterprises and 27 vegetable production bases covering a vegetable production area of 9,450 mu supplying vegetable to Hongkong and Macau.

As one of Hongkong and Macau’s major food bases, Zhongshan supplies the two places with edible fungus, sprouted beans, and a great variety of vegetables. In addition, two vegetable processing enterprises reserved vegetable production bases with an area of 5,000 mu outside of Guangdong Province. The amount of vegetables supplied by Zhongshan to Hongkong and Macau increases year by year. From January to June this year, Zhongshan supplied Hongkong and Macau with 4,797 batches of vegetables, totaled 1.6 tons and valued US$ 4.651 million.
