According to Urban Planning of Eastern Area of Torch Development District issued yesterday, Eastern Area will focus on developing high-tech industries and modern manufacturing industry, and build itself into an industrial park with favorable environment integrating residence, commerce, education, scientific research, and logistics.

The planning area of the Eastern Area totals 23.67 square kilometers, including 1469.88 hectare of construction area, and is expected to accommodate 52,000 residents. According to the plan, the layout of this area is “two horizontal belts, one vertical belt and five sections”. Two horizontal belts refer to Yanjiang Avenue and Shiji Avenue, serving as horizontal development belt; one vertical belt refers to expressways serving as vertical development belt; five sections refer to National Industrial Park, Wu Jieping Medical Research Industrial Park (Demonstration Base of Transformation of S&T Achievements), health base, micro-electric industrial park and living quarter.
