The dormitory building of a research-production base for optics, machinery and electronics (also known as the Changchun University of Science and Technology Zhongshan Institute) was topped out on August 8, five months ahead of schedule.
As Zhongshan's first master and doctoral education and training base in the high-grade, precision and advanced manufacturing sector, the research base focuses on photoelectric technology, artificial intelligence and other high-tech fields, and offers master and doctoral postgraduate education and training.
The research base can accommodate over 1,000 students of such professional disciplines as optics, machinery, electronics, computing and new materials. It will inject strong talent and innovation momentum for the optoelectronic industry of Zhongshan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
With a land area of 39.32 mu and a total investment of more than 1 billion yuan, the research base includes buildings for administration, teaching, and scientific research, as well as such facilities as recreation center, dormitory, cafeteria and gymnasium. The dormitory building will be put into use in March 2024.
