According to a report recently released by the Zhongshan Semiconductor Lighting Industry Association, in the first quarter of 2021, the output value of Zhongshan's LED industry was 19.17 billion yuan, hitting its highest in the last five years for the same period, an increase of 28.4% and 8.12% compared with that in 2020 and 2019 respectively, with an average growth of 18.26%.

As of March 31, 2021, Zhongshan has formed a cluster base revolving around the main industrial chain of LED packaging, drive circuit design, lighting, displays, and other applications and is home to more than 16,400 manufacturing companies, including 12,000 finished LED lighting product companies. Among them, the number of LED manufacturing companies in Guzhen, Henglan and Xiaolan account for more than 85% of the total number of companies.

As an important emerging industry in Zhongshan, the LED industry has been a major contributor in the overall economic growth of Zhongshan. In 2020, the annual output value of Zhongshan's LED industry reached 67.13 billion yuan.

Industry insiders believe that such areas as smart lighting, healthy lighting and natural lighting will be the future "blue oceans", and companies can actively seek the transformation.
