According to statistics from the China Film Administration, China's total box office revenue for 2023 was 54.915 billion yuan. Chinese film ticket sales reached 46.005 billion yuan, accounting for 83.77% of the total revenue.

In 2023, Zhongshan's total box office revenue hit 240 million yuan, ranking sixth in Guangdong province. There were some 6,283,700 tickets sold for 735,800 movie screenings, and the average ticket price reached 38.3 yuan. The top five films in terms of box office revenue were No More Bets, Lost in the Stars, The Wandering Earth 2, Full River Red, and Never Say Never.

Zhongshan now has 68 cinemas open to the public. Cinema China Film (MixC) reported a box office revenue of 10.583 million yuan in 2023, and a total audience of 276,000, ranking first in Zhongshan, followed by Jinyi Cinema (TYC Mall), Bona Cinema (Coco City), Jinyi Cinema (Ocean City IMAX) and C+ Cinema (Huifeng Mall).
