A total of 938 enterprises in Zhongshan have been recognized provincial as innovation-oriented SMEs by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, ranking fifth in Guangdong (excluding Shenzhen).

Outstanding SMEs refer to high-growth SMEs that are highly innovative in products, technologies, management and models and focus on market segments. They include innovation-oriented SMEs, specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative SMEs, as well as specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative "little giant" enterprises.

Guangdong has strengthened the graded cultivation of outstanding SMEs and selected a total of 15,730 innovation-oriented enterprises in 2022 (excluding Shenzhen). The title will remain valid for three years.
