According to customs statistics, Zhongshan reported total imports and exports of 279.87 billion yuan from January to December 2022, up 3.9% year on year (same below), including exports of 232.8 billion yuan, up 4.3% year on year; and imports of 47.07 billion yuan, up 1.6% year on year.
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) came into effect on January 1, 2022. In 2022, Zhongshan Customs and Zhongshan Port Customs inspected and released imported goods worth more than 210 million yuan under the RCEP, entitled enterprises to tariff concessions of more than 7 million yuan, and issued more than 2,600 RCEP certificates of origin to 120 enterprises involving a total goods value of more than 900 million yuan.
Under the RCEP, China and Japan have reached a bilateral tariff concession arrangement for the first time. With RCEP certificates of origin, a large number of Zhongshan-made and featured products have been exported to Japan.
Zhongshan, a key home appliances manufacturing city in China, saw a small peak in heating appliances export to Europe in the past six months. Enterprises reported a total of some 372,000 electric heaters exported to Europe through processing trade via the Zhongshan custom district in 2022.
