The 10th Party and Political Joint Conference on close cooperation between Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Yangjiang was held in Zhuhai yesterday afternoon in which the officials concerned gathered together to discuss the cooperation between the four cities and plan the development in the West Bank of Pearl River.

Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Jiangmen has carried out 24 key cooperation projects this year to deepen regional cooperation, and has made new progress in transportation construction, industrial cooperation, environment control, and improving integration of elementary public services. Till June, another four contracts have been signed, which raises the total number of the contracts between the four cities to 66.

The construction of the free trade trail area in Guangdong is the first and foremost project in deepening reform and opening up in the province. The theme of the meeting yesterday is Hengqin Free Trade Area and economic development in Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Yangjiang. The officials and experts at present talk about the development of Hengqin Free Trade Area, all-round cooperation between Hong Kong, Macau and West Bank, industrial upgrading in West Bank of PRD area, etc.

Party Secretary Xue Xiaofeng says that Zhongshan will build up an innovative system with Zhongshan characteristics with Torch High-tech Development Zone and Cuiheng High-tech Cluster Zone as the driving force, four municipal industrial platforms as the focus, and new-type specialized towns as the backup, and actively take part in the construction of independent innovative demonstration zone in PRD area.
