The COVID-19 epidemic situation in Hong Kong struck a chord in the hearts of people across Zhongshan. As the main supplier of freshwater fish to Hong Kong in Guangdong Province, Guangdong Zhongshan Food Import and Export Group (also known as ZS-Shuichu Group) has ensured a stable fish supply while following strict epidemic control measures.
In accordance with latest requirements, ZS-Shuichu Group implemented closed-loop staff management for its Guangdong-Hong Kong cross-border freight transport platform in Xiaolan Town starting February 28. Five shipping workers volunteered to enter the closed-loop management area and stay at the dock 24 hours a day to ensure safe production.
Founded in 1955, ZS-Shuichu Group is a time-honored enterprise in Zhongshan. Its freshwater fish products account for about 80% of Guangdong's freshwater fish supplied to Hong Kong and occupy about 40% of the freshwater fish market in Hong Kong. He Ronghong, chairman of the company, said that due to great uncertainty in the present epidemic situation in Hong Kong, many Hong Kong drivers are in quarantine, and transportation prices are 3-5 times higher than usual, leading to a significant drop in freight volume of freshwater fish. In the past, 7 fish trucks were loaded every day, with an export volume of about 50 tons. But now there are only 3-4 trucks a day, with an export volume of about 35 tons.
According to the latest regulations, all trucks will be disinfected on arrival before being loaded by the staff in the closed-loop management area. All personnel at the operation site are prohibited from having direct contact with cross-border truck drivers, who are also under strict management at the operation site. If everything goes well, the fish will be delivered to Hong Kong in three and a half hours.
