The robots emit bursts of purple light while working. They are equipped with functions including automatic obstacle avoidance, smart charging, and intelligent route planning. The ultraviolet disinfection robot developed by Wuhan Unione Technology Co Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Union Optech Co Ltd, was previously unveiled at the National Speed Skating Ring of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics to participate in virus disinfection.

The ultraviolet disinfection robot can replace human operators for high-efficiency ultraviolet disinfection in dangerous areas, depopulated areas, and other spaces. It has multiple benefits including high-efficiency disinfection, no pollution, no waste residue, full-automation, and no manual intervention, with a disinfection efficiency of 99.99%.

As a product developed, produced and sold by Union Optech, the ultraviolet disinfection robots can be customized, and they are sold to many cities such as Wuhan, Shenzhen and Jingmen, being put to work in hospitals, schools, government service halls and other places.

Currently, this ultraviolet disinfection robot alone contains nearly 30 patents, while Union Optech has a total of 757 patents since its establishment. "Union Optech's patent expenses exceeded 900,000 yuan last year." Liang Qili, secretary of the board and deputy general manager of Union Optech, said that patent expenses are an indispensable cost for the rapid development of the enterprise.
