March 21, 2009 witnessed the grand opening of China's first Classical Furniture Cultural Festival and Trade Fair in Sanxiang Town of Zhongshan. Leaders attending the fair were Vice Chairman Tang Bingquan of Guangdong CPPCC, Chairman Jia Qingwen of China National Furniture Association (CNFA), Director Cheng Xiuwen of Information Center of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Mayor Li Qihong of Zhongshan City Chairman Zheng Jinzhuan of Zhongshan CPPCC, Peng Jianwen of CPC Zhongshan Committee and Vice Mayor Feng Yurong. Thousands of furniture experts, scholars and businessmen home and abroad attended this big cultural feast, whose theme is “Ming-Qing Style, Occidental Fashion and Sanxiang’s Culture.”
The 3-day-long festival offered a range of activities including signing fourteen contracts, opening the Fine Classical Furniture Museum, holding the Chinese Furniture Industry Summit Forum, Seminar on the standardization of Western Furniture, and CNFA Secretary General Annual Meeting and Furniture Designers’ Forum. China Central Television filmed a TV program called “Treasure Hunt in Zhongshan” in Sanxiang. Leisure and cultural activities involved evening parties, gourmet carnivals and Sanxiang Tour. Presentation on Sanxiang Real Estate was also held.
The fair, not only swept Zhongshan with a furniture storm of “Ming-Qing Style and Occidental Fashion”, effectively pushing Sanxiang forward on its road to “Celebrated Town of Classical Furniture in China”, but also initiated a new development journey for Sanxiang’s classical furniture industry.
“Treasure Hunt” of CCTV walks into Zhongshan
“Treasure Hunt in Zhongshan”, a program filmed by CCTV and one of the highlights of the First China (Sanxiang) Classical Furniture Festival & Trade Fair, began its initial audition in Sanxiang Town of Zhongshan yesterday morning. People in and out of Zhongshan brought over 1, 000 treasures to participate in the contest, 50 of which were qualified for the next round, the competition this afternoon, to run after the title “Folk Treasure in Zhongshan”.
