According to the working meeting on economy and trade held yesterday, Zhongshan will select Top 100 enterprises of Zhongshan and Zhongshan Economic and Trade Bureau will set up a special group to initiate the program of helping forge them into Guangdong Top 500.

Wang Yang, member of CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, Secretary of Guangdong CPC Committee, addressed in his speech at the 6th Session of the 10th Guangdong CPC Committee held before long that Guangdong’s top 500 companies should guide the development of modern industries. And Guangdong will focus on cultivation of 100 strategic new projects, 100 advanced manufacturing projects, 100 traditional projects with advantages and 100 modern agricultural projects. Besides, Guangdong will select, declare and support Top 100 Creative Companies of Guangdong

Director-General of Zhongshan Economic and Trade Bureau Xie Keqiu told that Zhongshan will select and declare Zhongshan Top 100 projects, of which 30 projects shall be on the list of Guangdong Top 500. Zhongshan will support these large companies and projects to the largest extent and held them grow stronger through technological innovation and invention and resource restructuring.

New industries will be the main objects of government's support, which include equipment manufacturing, shipbuilding, biological medicine, electronic information, new materials and new energy resources and so on.
Large projects and companies are the main pillars of Zhongshan industrial economy. According to the statistics, the output value of above-scale industries of last year increased by 12.5 per cent in contrast with the year before last year. And they grow over 10 per cent in terms of profit taxes and profits. Large projects make the new economic growth. For example, Zhongshan Shipbuilding Base Project of China Shipbuilding Group will be started and it is estimated that the total industrial output will have topped 35 billion yuan by 2012.
