Zhongshan this year will invest more than 100 million yuan in funding talent development, the Zhongshan Finance Bureau indicated a few days ago. This investment will be utilized to build Zhongshan into a target center for a wide variety of young talent where they are able to bring their innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and their dreams.

This year alone, Zhongshan city arranges 130 million yuan in loan guarantee funds and discount interest expenses in the unemployment insurance fund to support loan guarantees and discount interest subsidies for self-employed individuals. To better manage the shortfall of high-level talent at all 7 levels, some 36 million yuan is allocated for special allowances and home purchase subsidies from the municipal government.

The city encourages and supports companies and public institutions to establish post-doctoral workstations, post-doctoral innovation and practice bases, and doctoral workstations. The municipal finance sectors will provide 800,000 yuan, 500,000 yuan and 300,000 yuan for each newly established post-doctoral workstation, innovative practice base and doctoral workstation respectively. Furthermore, an amount of 150,000 yuan will be offered to each post-doctoral worker at the station (base) per year to support their research and development activities and living.

The development fund for sci-tech talent is now 33 million yuan. This money is typically used for the training, introduction, evaluation and management of talents and teams, as well as the introduction and construction of the national innovation platforms, affiliated agencies and academician workstations.
