Recent years saw the rapid development of equipment manufacturing in Torch Development Zone. 

On Mar. 2, Zhongshan municipal government held a contract-signing ceremony in Beijing with some key central enterprises. In the ceremony, Torch Hi-tech Development Zone inked 12 investment projects with 12 central enterprises with a total investment surpassing 71.4 billion yuan. Among the 12 projects, the investment of 8 contracted projects amounted to 50.8 billion yuan and that of 4 projects for which co-op agreement has been signed came to 20.6 billion yuan. Torch Development Zone took up more than 40 percent of the total of Zhongshan no matter in terms of the amount of contracts or the amount of investment, which symbolizes that Torch Development Zone has made a great success in this year’s campaign to introduce investment and provides a powerful engine for the realization of the 12th Five-year Plan of Torch Development Zone.

Last year, Torch Development Zone realized an industrial output value of 113.1 billion yuan, making itself the first town in Zhongshan to yield a hundred of billions of output value. By 2015, the total industrial output value is expected to hit 250-300 billlion yuan and GDP to hit 80 billion yuan. To achieve these goals, central enterprises are to play a key role.
