In the National Scientific and Technical Innovation Meeting, Work Meeting of National Hi-tech Industry Development Zone and Achievements Exhibition of National Hi-tech Industry Development Zone in the past 20 years held in succession in Bejing from 5th to 9th in July, Zhongshan Torch Development Zone won the award of "National Advanced Unit" and Feng Shusheng, secretary of Torch Development Zone Party committee won the award of "Outstanding Individual".

In the past three years, Torch Development Zone invested nearly 0.4 billion yuan in scientific and technical innovation. Funds support of 0.14 billion yuan from 23 national projects and 75 provincial projects directly encourages 5 billion yuan R&D investment in the Zone and 13 national and municipal prizes of Progress in science and technology.

In the meeting, the Torch Development Zone also received praise due to its special three theme exhibitions of reform and innovation, industrial development and harmonious garden. In addition, the torch development zone has made great achievements. In 2008, it was award "Advanced Unit of the 20th Anniversary of National Torch Plan ". In 2010, it became one of the national innovative park approved by Ministry of Science and Technology and in 2011, Zhongshan health technology cluster was listed in the national innovative industrial cluster construction engineering.
