On March 14, plump and ripe fruits glistened in the tomato greenhouses of a digital agricultural base along the Lanxi River in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Town. On the same day, the first crop of Dutch tomatoes grown with sweet mountain spring water in the greenhouses were officially marketed and sold to other places all over the country.

"These tomatoes will be incorporated into healthy dishes for Zhongshan citizens," said Ruan Yinqi, head of Guangdong Intelligent Agriculture Co Ltd, adding that after returning home from studying abroad in Britain, she founded this digital agricultural base with her father at the end of 2019. She took advantage of the high-quality water resources in Cuiheng Village and introduced Dutch greenhouse planting technology and modern technology to plant 2 varieties of tomatoes and 8 kinds of vegetables across 3 greenhouses, which help villagers improve their incomes.

This year, Nanlang Town has been implementing comprehensive rural revitalization programs and vigorously developing a new agricultural industrial system involving digital agriculture. As a young overseas returnee, Ruan hoped to integrate her international mindset with rural practices to create a brand-new agricultural model.
