The Forestry Department of Guangdong Province
on December 9 publicized the list of the first batch of National Forest Villages
in Guangdong Province for 2019. The only such listing in Zhongshan is Guinan
Village of Wuguishan District.
Guinan Village, located to the
south of the main peak of Wugui Mountain, is an ancient village inhabited by
Hakka people. It has jurisdiction over five natural villages, namely Maxi
Village, Shebei Village, Qixi Village, Shijing Village and Tianxin Village.
Guinan Village covers an area of 19.6 square kilometers.
Cottages
are built against the mountain here. The village is rich in green bamboo, and
the mountain range is abundant in sweet groundwater. In recent years, thanks to
the Rural Revitalization Strategy, this ancient village has quietly become a
beautiful ecological business card for Wuguishan District and, in fact, even the
whole city.
It is reported that Guinan Village has invested more
than 30 million yuan in building a beautiful village and advanced more than 20
public interest projects, including the construction of riverside parks and the
environmental improvements made to the Xiangzhang Garden.
Specifically, the Xiangzhang Garden in the village covers an
area of about 21,333 square meters, and it contains nearly 100 century-old
camphor trees. Not far from the Garden is Qixi Ecological Farm, a good place for
family outdoor activities.
