Dacen Village lies across the banks of a river from the center of Huangpu Town and connects with Guizhou, Shunde District. However, three decades ago, no road existed between these places, and there were only several red brick factories in the village. This was the situation for Dacen, the agricultural enclave of Huangpu, in the early 1990s.
The industrial output value of Dacen Village was only 1.3175 million yuan in 1993, making it the poorest village in Huangpu.
However, facing adversity often leads to prosperity. Dacen Village, located at the golden corridor of China's household appliance industry, raised funds on their own to build roads and bridges to connect Shunde District with Huangpu Town. The village developed rapidly with the spillover effect of a booming household appliance industry in Shunde District.
In 2019, there were more than 410 enterprises in Dacen Village, 26 of which were above designated size. They had an industrial output value of 4.35 billion yuan.
The village's industrial output has soared by more than 3,300 times within the past 22 years. New schools, 5 farmers' markets, and more than 800 rental dwellings have been built here. Today, 3,963 Dacen villagers and 28,000 new residents of Zhongshan are working together on land of more than 266.7 hectares with the purpose of building a high-quality, prosperous, industrious village.
