Zhongshan plans to spare 100 thousand mu in 5 years
2010-04-14

Downtown is the foremost promotion of “Three olds” transformation. Separated by Qijiang River, the city looks quite different on both of its banks. The above picture is the western district around Qijiang Park, while the picture below is the area of Shiqi in the east.

The picture shows the pedestrian street on West Sun Yat-sen Road nearby Zhongshan Department Stores.

Compared with other cities in the Pearl River Delta, the "bottleneck" problem of the land shortage is more pressing because its area is only 1800 k?, which is far away from the need of the development. “Three olds” transformation is granted for the best way to break through the restriction of the “bottleneck”.

“Three olds” transformation has been on focus in Zhongshan since it was ranked as the first importance in the city’s "Government Work Report". The next day after the holiday of Spring Festival, the city government held an on-site meeting in Nantou Town for “Three olds” transformation, which signaled the start of the reform work and attracted a large number of private capital.

Recently, the Suggestions on Reformation of “Three Olds” were released, in which 10 policies to spare more new land resources for economic and social development were also specified. It is reported that the city plans to make a reformation with a total land area of 97 thousand Mu in 5 years, among which one thousand mu will be accomplished this year.
