Zhongshan intends to make up an urban ecological control line that is divided into Class A and B control zones according to their respective significance to the ecological system and administrative levels. Urban and Rural Planning Bureau issued Regulations on Ecological Control Line of Zhongshan City (Open to Public Opinions) and citizens can give their ideas and feedback through fax, emails, etc.
The urban ecological control line is divided into four categories of ecological reserves, leisure and scenery land, land for live safety and farming land. According to the Regulations, municipal natural reserves, Class A water source reserves and some provincial reserves and projects are categorized into Class A Zones while other eligible ecological reserves, leisure and scenery land, land for live safety and farming land belong to Class B Zones.
In Class A Zones, developments are only forbidden except those relevant to ecological protection while in Class B Zone, the developments are focused on ecological protection and those developments that may damage the ecological system is highly restrained.
