On the pilot section of the riverside water conservation project in Tsuihang New District (THND), planting of new trees and improvements to the waterside foundation are planned to be completed before the Spring Festival. After completion, the pilot section will demonstrate potential of the overall project and become a new place of leisure for surrounding residents.

The pilot section is in the northern part of the Maolong Waterway, with a total land area of about 77,300 square meters and beautiful walkways on both sides of the river surrounded by greenery. Three zones with distinctive features will be built, namely, a wetland area and a thickly wooded area on the eastern bank, and a path with Muling flowers on the western bank.

With about 68 kilometers of coastline, THND plans to invest 5.87 billion yuan to conduct a riverside water conservation project integrating various landscape designs.

The main items in the conservation project include a seawall reinforcement project, river restoration project, water locks and pumping station project, waterfront landscape project, and others. The design area of the waterfront landscape is 3.238 million square meters, including the completed Cuihu Park, the Cuiheng National Wetland Park, and the planned Riverside Family Park and Urban Hall.
