This year, Southern Group's waste incineration power plant and leachate treatment plant expansion project was among the provincial and municipal key people's livelihood projects. This October, the first production line of the expansion project was put into production, and the second line began operation in November. After the third and final production line is put into production later this month, the daily garbage disposal capacity of the facilities will reach 2,250 tons. By the end of the year, the comprehensive garbage treatment of Zhongshan's three waste disposal groups will reach 8,714 tons every day.

The expansion project uses pollution free garbage treatment, reduces the use of resources and turns waste into resources. The slags can be made into bricks; The waste heat generated by incineration can be used to generate electricity, which can save 120,000 tons of standard coal every year. The 150 tons of steam generated per hour can be used to meet the production demand of chemical, paper, printing and dyeing enterprises in the nearby Shenwan Town.
